Geraldine E. Ziegler, 79, of Dunkirk, died, Friday afternoon August 8, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 17, 1934 in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Walter and Genevieve (Slawinski) Adamski.

Following her retirement from New York Telephone in 1981, she owned and operated the former C & G Corner Store in Dunkirk, well known in the area for its subs.

Her memberships include Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig, and also worked at the parish Bingos, the Kosciuszko Polish Home where she was past secretary, vice-president and was the only past female President to date, and WWII Vets Auxiliary.

An avid Bingo player, Geraldine also enjoyed to frequent the casinos, and play puzzle books.

Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Louis T. Ziegler, whom she married June 5, 1954, their children Thomas (Janie) Ziegler of Union, MO., Louann (Walt) Zimmerman of Scottsdale, AZ., Barbara Ziegler of Fredonia, Deborah (Roy Jesse) Pasierb of Dunkirk, Raymond Ziegler of Dunkirk; sister of Mary Pencek of Dunkirk, and Florence Burek of South Dayton; grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Ziegler, Jonathan (Kelly) Ziegler, Michael Ziegler, Jessica (Chris Ganey) Pasierb, Katie (Frederick II) Lemiszko, Julie Ziegler; great-grandchildren Kaylee, Kyla, Joseph, Payton and Zak Ziegler, Makayla Pasierb, Hans and Oliver Lemiszko, Riley Ganey, along with several nieces and nephew also survive.

Preceded in addition to her parents, is her daughter Melissa A. Ziegler who died October 31, 1997, and brothers Edward and Harry Adamski.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig's Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.

Note: Her daughter Melissa actually died in the early morning hours of November 1,1997 when the car she was riding in was struck by a freight train.
