Actor. Born in Brooklyn, he was adopted at six months by a police officer and his wife, he grew up in Sparta, New Jersey where he attended Pope John XXIII High School where he was a varsity athlete. He then entered Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University where he received flight training and earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics which led to a position as a corporate pilot in the sales division of Falcon Jet Corporation. He then moved on to a position on Wall Street. An abrupt departure came ten years later when he moved to Los Angeles and took up acting. He debuted under the credit Gerard T. Doyle on the television series 'Moonlighting' in 1987. Jobs were thin, however, until he was cast in his signature role, Michael Garibaldi, in the 1993 television series pilot 'Babylon 5: The Gathering.' The series was picked up and ran from 1994 to 1998, and was followed the television movies 'Babylon 5:River of Souls' and a final time in 1999 in 'Babylon 5: A Call to Arms." He appeared as a guest in numerous series following the end of Babylon 5 such as 'Sliders,' 'Beverly Hills, 90210,' 'JAG,' 'NYPD Blue,' and 'Republic of Doyle,' But roles were not plentiful. In 2000, he ran as the Republican candidate for California's 24th Congressional District, but lost after refusing to spend any money on his campaign. He then changed careers again, and became a radio talk show host. A professed Libertarian, he hosted political opinion program 'The Jerry Doyle Show ' which became the sixth most popular talk radio show in the US by early 2012. The following year, he also launched news website EpicTimes. He succumbed to natural causes four years later, suddenly and unexpectedly, at the age of 60. His colleague and B5 creator, J. Michael Straczynski eulogized him; "He was funny, and dangerous, and loyal, and a prankster, and a pain in the ass; he was gentle and cynical and hardened and insightful and sometimes as dense as a picket fence … and his passing is a profound loss to everyone who knew him...."
