Michael Alguire
Michael Alguire died at 1 a.m. on Sunday, July 21 at 647 Dupont Street, Toronto, age 78 years. He was born in Osnabruck Township and resided with his son Charles Alguire, 647 Dupont Street, Toronto, for the past nine years. In 1865 he married Margaret Bender who died 27 years ago. He leaves five sons and four daughters, viz Willis, Charles, Jack and Percy, all of Toronto, Barney of Lysander, N.Y.; Mrs. J.D. Wiggins of Avonmore; Mrs. John Grant of Lunenburg; Mrs. Harry Page of Toronto; Mrs. W. Wood of Lyons, N.Y. The funeral took place on Tuesday, July 23 at 10 a.m. from 647 Dupont Street, Toronto, by G.T.R. (Grand Trunk Railway) to the Anglican Church and cemetery. (Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Moulinette, Cornwall Twp.) The remains were laid to rest in the family plot. Rev. J. Fisher of Wales, officiated. The pall bearers were his four sons and two sons-in-law. Willie, Charles, Jack and Barney, and J.D. Wiggins and John Grant. The deceased was one of the best known and most highly respected men in Stormont County, having lived in Northfield and Mille Roches until nine years ago. In religion he was a member of the Church of England, in politics a staunch reformer. Beautiful flowers were placed on the casket by many sympathizing friends of Toronto, including a pillow with the word 'father' by the sons and daughters of the deceased, and a spray by Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Wiggins of Avonmore. The bereaved relatives and friends have the heartfelt sympathy of all in this community in their great loss.
