Actor. Werner Peters is a German actor, who appeared in 102 films between 1947 and 1971. He entered the entertainment industry as a comedian. During World War II, he was drafted in 1938 and served in the German army. After the war, he reinvented himself as a serious dramatic actor, resident for some time at the Munich Kammerspiele and at the Deutsches Theater. Starting his film career in 1948, he had the lead in the 1951 film, "Der Untertan," an East German-made film based on Heinrich Mann's 1918 satirical novel by the same name, "Man of Straw". For this role, he received an East German National Prize in 1951. From 1955, he appeared in West German films before getting international supporting roles, usually playing the character of a stout, sinister Nazi-German officers with his thick German accent. From 1958, he supplied German voice-overs for international English-speaking actors. He appeared in two episodes of the American television series "Blue Light," which aired in 1966, starring Robert Goulet with a plot based on the adventures of an American double agent in Nazi Germany during World War II. He appeared in two of the four American serial films, "I Deal in Danger," which were released in 1966. While on a promotional tour for his last film, "The Body in the Thames," he suddenly died from a heart attack.
