Vaudene Frances Emanuel (née Moores), 91, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at her home in Glendale, Missouri, surrounded by loved ones.

Vaudene was born on September 23, 1925, to Otis and Clara May Moores in Halfway, Missouri. In 1958, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Central Missouri State Teachers College (currently the University of Central Missouri) and subsequently taught for sixteen years throughout the state, touching many lives in the process. In the midst of her career in education, she married Arthur Samuel Emanuel on March 16, 1951. Together they raised two sons, and through them Vaudene became very involved with the Boy Scouts of America, eventually earning the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for her service to the council.

After retiring from the teaching profession, Vaudene became the Activities Director at Gambrill Gardens Senior Living Community, a position she held for the following ten years. During this time, she continued to hand stitch quilts for others, a pastime which she always enjoyed. She self-published a book of poetry entitled On the Other Side of Experience and sustained her active involvement in the congregation of Webster Hills United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful servant for fifty-four years.

Vaudene was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Wilma June, Arlien, and Janis; two brothers: Dwain and Dwight; two children: Linn Dean and Pamela Jean; and one granddaughter: Ashley.
