She married Clarence DeWitt Payne July 6, 1935. She grew up in Lowville, graduated from Lowville Academy and then from Utica Business School. After marriage moved to Martinsburg, and later Boonville, NY, where she spent most of her life. After her husband died, she moved to California to live with her youngest daughter. She was a member of the Boonville United Methodist Church and a treasurer of the women's group for many years. She leaves two children, Carolyn and Shirley, six grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren.
