Actor. Born in London, England, he is best known to many for the role of "Detective Inspector Goss" in the 1960s British television series "Z Cars". He had countless television and film credits beginning in the 1950s with "The Adventures of Sir Lancelot", "The Adventures of Robin Hood", "Public Eye", "Moody and Pegg", "The New Avengers", "Doctor Who", "Keeping Up Appearances" and the movies "Barnacle Bill", (1957) and "Indian Summer", (1987). Waring appeared with his wife Dorothy Tutin in the Broadway production of "Portrait of a Queen" in 1968 and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He died of cancer.
