David Piatkowski, 72, of Freehold Township, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. He was born in Long Branch and was a lifelong resident of Freehold. He was the president of Freehold Towing, Freehold Township which he founded in 1972. Prior to that, he operated Freehold Amoco.
He was presented American Towman 500 Award as one of 500 oldest towing companies in the country. Dave was a member of the Freehold Kruisers and an honorary member of the East Freehold Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Hope Piatkowski; a son, David E. Piatkowski; a daughter, Janet H. Piatkowski; three sisters, Ann Pontis, Mary Pullen, and Gloria Myers; and two grandchildren, Alexis and David M. Piatkowski.
The viewing will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 15 at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16 at First Baptist Church, 81 West Main St., Freehold, followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad or Wounded Warriors would be appreciated.
