Television Screenwriter, Director. Born in Toronto. He won multiple Emmy Awards for the 1970s television series "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "Taxi". His other notable script credits include "The Bill Cosby Show", "Lily", "Phyllis" and "The Associates". His directing credits include "Taxi", "Mr. Smith" and "Dear John". In addition to writing and directing, Daniels co-created and served as executive producer of "Taxi". He died of heart failure.
