Margaret Chambers Plemmons died peacefully with family in Elkridge, Maryland on April 17, 2018 at the age of 90. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Linda Gould of Elkridge, MD, Susan (Michael) Plumb of Virginia Beach, VA, Gail (Steven) Crosby of New Port Richey, FL and Deborah (Bruce) Elms of Pittsburgh, PA, as well as six granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Plemmons, her brothers John and Dennis Chambers and her parents, Alice Ann (Bielby) and James Patrick Chambers. Margaret was born on April 21, 1927 in London, England to Alice Ann (Bielby) and James Patrick Chambers. She met her husband, Jack, during WWII and immigrated to Washington, D.C. in the United States shortly after the war ended. Margaret and Jack welcomed four daughters and taught them the importance of being kind, helping others and taking care of your family. She was known for her ability to make you feel welcome, special and important. Margaret was always willing to talk with you over a cup of hot tea. After her husband’s passing in 1980, Margaret joined the workforce as an employee at Hecht’s where she worked until she retired at the age of 69. In July of 1981, Margaret very proudly earned her citizenship of the United States of America. While she always felt proud of her British heritage, she felt immensely honored to become an American citizen and enjoy the liberties it allowed. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress, a skill she learned from her mother whose father was a Master Tailor in England, and made many beautiful dresses and clothes for herself, her daughters and granddaughters. She was a generous individual who loved animals, gardening, listening and dancing to music and was passionate about her faith.
