Benno Adam was the first son of German artist Abrecht Adam, and also a painter of animals, including cows, horses, donkeys, dogs, foxes and hares. He also painted battle scenes and rural country scenes, oftentime depicting hunting with hounds. He worked with and under his father and travelled extensively with him throughout Europe, gathering material for his brush. He is buried alongside his father and brothers.
