He was also the subject of a 2000 documentary called 'Hey, Vinny!'. On television, he played Jimmy Petrille on the HBO show 'The Sopranos' for five seasons, and he hosted a New York public-access television cable TV show, 'The Vinny Vella Show'. Vella died from complications from liver cancer.
