Irene Da Costa, formerly Raposa, 72, of 455 Smith Street died on Friday after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Carlos Da Costa. She was born in St Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Jose and Luisa (Moniz) Pereira. She resided in Fall River for over 41 years and previously married to the late Manual Raposa, with whom she is interred.

Irene was a trimmer at the former Needlecraft Mfg., Co. before retiring 10 years ago. She was also a member of Our Lady of Health Church.

She is survived by a son William Raposa of Fall River, three daughters, Louise Estrele and Rose Marie Dacosta, both of Fall River, and Vivian Silva of Somerset, three stepsons John, Francisco and Valdemar Dacosta, a brother John Moniz of Fall River, three sisters Beatrice Travis and Gloria Amaral, both of Fall River and Leondile Cabral of St. Michael, Azores; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was the third wife of my Great Grandfather Manuel Raposa, Sr. They married in Faja de Baxio, Sao Miguel, Azores, September 3, 1951.
