Lifetime Fannin County, Texas farmer.
He was married to his first cousin, Mary Roberts, whose family also used the spelling of Roberds.
He was the son of A.W. Robbins and Mahala Simpson. One family story indicates his father was murdered by bushwhackers, but Perry and his mother managed to survive the deprivations of the Civil War.
He was born John Perry Robbins, but changed his name to Perry Simpson sometime after the 1870 census for reasons unknown.
Although his grave stone has 1850 as the year of his birth he usually claimed to be born in 1859. Both 1850 and 1859 are incorrect as he is not found on either the 1850 or 1860 census although his mother is. He was most likely born in 1861.
