Dr. Eugene Turpin "Bena" Rowe, 73, son of the late Hansford Herndon Rowe and Isabel Willis Rowe, died Monday, November 11, 2002 at his home. Dr. Rowe is survived by brothers, Hansford Herndon Rowe and his wife Mira; and Dan Mason Rowe; sister, Jane Willis Rowe List and her husband, Edward; four nieces and four nephews, Susan "Talia" List Moser, Kathryn Lare List, Susan Rowe Foster, Laura Rowe Noble, Hansford Herndon Rowe III, Blake Eugene Rowe, David Eugene Rowe and Steven Mason Rowe. Dr. Rowe was a graduate of John Marshall High School Class of 1946, and captain of Company F, Randolph Macon College, Texas A&M Veterinary School and intern at Angel Memorial Clinic, Boston. Dr. Rowe, a retired veterinarian, established Fairfield Veterinary Clinic. He was founder of the Chickahominy Branch of the YMCA and a dedicated board member. Dr. Rowe was a member of Sandston Rotary for over 35 years. The family will entertain a gathering of his friends at the Chickahominy Branch YMCA, 5401 Whiteside Rd., Sandston, on Sunday, November 17 from 1 to 4 p.m., with a celebration of his life at 3 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to EarthWatch Institute or the American Cancer Society.
