After World War II, she took over what had been the Mary Wigman-Schule in Dresden as the renamed D.-Hoyer-Studio. In September of 1948, Dore Hoyer left Dresden, relocating to Hamburg, there she was one of the founding members of the Free Academy of Arts. She made several tours to South America in the 1950s, where she was particularly successful in Buenos Aires. In 1957 she received an invitation to the "American Dance Festival" of the Connecticut College in New London. Hoyer performed with several American modern dance dancers. Financing the performance herself, she gave her last performance on December 18, 1967 in Berlin, yet only a little more than a hundred persons attended. She had been in chronic pain from a knee injury. On December 31, 1967, she took her own life with poison.
