Malayan Monarch and 22nd Sultan of Johor. He succeeded his father at the age of twenty-two, formally installed on September 7, 1895 and crowned as the Sultan of Johor on November 2, 1895. Born in Istana Bidadari, Singapore, he was the eldest son of Sultan Abu Bakar and Enche' Besar Zubaidah. On September 7, 1955, he celebrated his Diamond Jubilee which marked his 60 years on the throne. He died on May 8, 1959 at Grosvenor House Hotel in London, aged 85.
