American Cartoonist and Artist. He was an award-winning cartoonist who will best be remembered for his work with the satirical publication Mad magazine. At the time of his passing, Jaffee held the Guinness World Record for the longest career as a comic artist, beginning with his first publication in Joker Comics in 1942 through his retirement from Mad in 2020. He had contributed to Mad magazine for more than 50 years, pioneering some of the magazines most popular and influential pieces, such as "Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions" and the Mad fold-in on the magazine's back cover, which when folded, revealed another hidden image and message. Through his long career, he collected several accolades for his clever parodies and satire, including Reuben Awards' Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year in 2008. Jaffee was inducted into the Will Eisner Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Society of Illustrators' Hall of Fame in 2014. An archive of his work is held at Columbia University.
