The gravestone was carved by John Hartshorn of Norwich, CT and lettered by Joshua Hempstead of New London, CT. The graves are on the former plantation of the family Mumford and the oldest in RI. Remains of the plantation are held by the Rhode Island Historical Society.
Siblings of Thomas were: Peleg (1659-1745), Abigail (1662-1717) and Sarah (1668-1746) who married the father of Benedict Arnold.
