Injury March 31 Results in Blood Clot - Operating Fails to Save his life
Charles D. Kane, Sr 63, of North Gordon Street, this morning in the Van Duzee hospital where he had been a patient since April 11th.

His death resulted from a bump on the head which he received Saturday evening March 31 while riding in the Seaker-Graves garage service car with Robert Cottrell.

Although somewhat dazed by the blow, Mr. Kane continued work at the garage until April 8th. He felt sick to his stomach adn vomited following the accident. Later in the week lameness developed in one leg.

By Wednesday afternoon he became unconscious because of a blood clot inside the skull which was ***panned at the hospital the following evening. His condition had been critical ever since his admission to the hospital.

Mr. Kane was born Sept 4, 1874 in Macomb, a son of Dennis and Catherine Mullen Kane. His parents died while he was young and he was reared by his aunts, Misses Sarah, Jane and Anne Kane.

Until nine years ago when he came to Gouverneur he operated a farm in Macomb. For the past eight years he had been employed at the Seaker-Graves garage. Thirty-seven years ago he married Miss Mary Maloy, who is at present a school teacher at Luzerne.

Surviving Mr Kane are his widow; a son, Charles D. Kane Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Elon Porter, and an aunt, Miss Sarah Kane, Gouverneur.

Funeral services will be held from St. James Church Thursday morning at ten o'clock. Rev. Donald Gallagher officiating. Burial will be made in Rossie.
