George Kabis, Civil War Veteran, Passes

George Kabis, who came to Cheyenne in 1867 and lived here until 1893,
returning again to Cheyenne about 2 years ago, died after a short illness today…

…born 22 Feb 1842, in Baden Germany

…came to USA when 18 years of age, enlisted in the army shortly after his arrival and served with the 88th Pennsylvania, Company I, during nearly the entire period of the Civil War.

…he always refused to apply for a pension until a few months ago…

…survived by his sister, Mrs. Warren Richardson, and 3 nieces and nephews.
