The fire was discovered shortly after eleven o'clock P. M. One thousand persons were present, of whom two hundred and seventy eight were burned to death.
The remains of one hundred and three were buried in this plot with civil and military honors, on Saturday December 9, 1876.
The theatre situated on the South East corner of Johnson and Washington Streets, was burned on Tuesday night, December 5, 1876
Erected by the City of Brooklyn to the memory of those who perished in the Brooklyn Theatre Fire
