Elizabeth was born in Illinois, possibly Coal City in Grundy County, to Louisa Virginia (Lockhart) and Joseph Roberts. She had five older siblings Mary, Nancy, Joseph, Louisa and Almeda; and two younger siblings (possibly twins) John and Rozenia.
Lizzie attended school in her early years, completing the fourth grade.
In 1891 at the age of 16 Lizzie married Henry Fleck in Huntington, Arkansas; together they had at least three children: Max, Willie and Catharina.
Lizzie and Henry operated two restaurants, one in Henryetta and the other at Fittstown. They lived in Lincoln and Coalgate, Oklahoma.
Sadly Lizzie outlived all of her children.
