Russell Carkeek, 81, died Monday afternoon at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
He was born June 19, 1896 in Calumet. He had been a resident of L'Anse for the past 45 years.
Mr. Carkeek never married. Several nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Jacobson Funeral Home, the Rev. Howard Shaffer to officiate. Interment will be in the Greenland cemetery.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
