Funeral services for Mary Reeves Rimes, 84, of Laurel, were Aug. 19, 2000, at Capps Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Knippers officiating. She died Aug. 17, 2000, at a Carthage hospital. Mrs. Rimes was retired from J.C. Penney Co., Laurel. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Laurel. She was born June 13, 1916, at Tylertown, daughter of the late Cicero Z. and Narcissa Stogner Reeves. She married Charles S. Rimes, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Noel Reeves; and three sisters, Eva Mitchell, Adles Engerran and Katherine Bosso. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Rimes of Bogalusa; two daughters, June Thaggard of Ridgeland and Gayle Elmer Ishee of Laurel; grandchildren, Kimby Rimes Mullett of Bush, La., Dr. Greg Thaggard and Dr. Stacy Thaggard of Meridian, Rodney Elmer and Billy Ishee Jr. of Laurel; and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, E.L. Reeves of Tylertown; two sisters, Altha Holmes of Brookhaven and Dorothy Surratt of Jackson, Tenn. Pallbearers were Robert Leggett, Michael Leggett, Stacy Thaggard, Greg Thaggard, Rodney Elmer and Nichole Mullett. Burial was in Tylertown Cemetery with Capps Funeral Home in charge.
