Last fall, Dr. and Mrs. McAfee and two children were in this city for several months, the doctor having been granted an extended furlough after his return from the Philippines. The young mother and her children made friends with all whom they met and when they left Delphi for Ft. Riley, it was with a feeling of satisfaction that their new home was not so far from the doctor’s boyhood home that they could not return here often for a visit. Dr. McAfee was sent to Mexico soon after his arrival in Ft. Riley, but his wife’s letters to relatives here have been cheerful and not a word had been received that gave them the least worry as to her condition.
It is expected that the body will be brought to the home of Dr. McAfee’s mother, Mrs. D. B. McAfee, in this city, and interment made here.
