Mrs. Ethel Gay Underwood, 87, of Waynesboro died Tuesday Nov. 29, 2005 at Brentwood Nursing Home.
Mrs. Underwood was born on July 1, 1918, in Jefferson County, GA to the late Leon Alonzo and Mary Elizabeth Stewart Newman. She was a former employee of Burke Garment Plant. She attended Lower Three Forks Baptist Church in Martin, S.C.
Mrs. Underwood is survived by her husband, Sanford F. Underwood Jr. of Martin, S.C; four daughters, Betty Clayton (J. W.) of Sardis, Dianne Fitzgerald (Butch) of Augusta, Molly Allen of Charlotte, N.C, and Ollie Barrow (John) of Hephzibah; two sons, Jimmy "James" Gay (Hazel) of Blythe and Rick Gay of Lincolnton; a sister, Mrs. Connie Bailey of Augusta; 27 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
