Civil War 7th Wisconsin Infantry Company E.
20 Jun 1861 - 2 Oct 1864
Was wounded at Gettysburg and a P.O.W that did not survive the war. Date Captured: 7/1/1863
Died of disease at Andersonville prison camp, Rank Corporal.

Elijah Mills parents, Alfred and Ruth Mills, came to America, with three children, from Quebec, Canada sometime after 1832 and before 1835. They settled in Ashtabula County Ohio. After about 20 years in that place the family moved to Waushara county Wisconsin in 1854. Elijah being ten years old at that time. They had made a farm in the town of Deerfield which the town name was given by Elijah's father.
Elijah Mills enlisted at the age of nearly 18 years old. He has spent three years in service of his country, over one full year as a P.O.W. at the dreaded Andersonville prison camp.
Elijah was wounded in the leg and captured at the battle of Gettysburg.
He did survive over a year at the prison camp with little or no medical attention. Elijah Mills past away from disease on 2 October 1864.
I can feel for Elijah and his parents Alfred and Ruth Mills because they have lost three sons Elijah, Noah and Charles and a grandson in the Civil War.
