Henry Brinig was born 1882 to Moses and Rebecca Brinig. His family were well-established business owners in Butte. He was reportedly the owner of a clothing store in Butte called "The Hub" or the "International Shirt Shop".

Henry was the older brother of celebrated 20th century novelist Myron Brinig whose books portrayed growing up Jewish in the raucous mining town of Butte. Many of his main characters were inspired by his family and neighbors. His best known works were "Singermann" (1929), "Wide Open Town" (1931), "This Man is My Brother" (1932) and "The Sun Sets in the West" (1935).

Henry died on May 20, 1954.
