William Murray, 81, died at his home on Baxter street at 11:30 last evening, following a shock which he sustained about two weeks ago. Mr. Murray had been a resident of Rutland for 42 years and for a long time conducted a blacksmith shop on the double road between here and Proctor.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. F.D. Foley of Rutland and Mrs. E.R. Wooster of Orange, N.J., and two sons, William H. and Dennis J. of Rutland.
Mr. Murray was a member of the G.A.R. and St. Peter's church.

Funeral services for William Murray, a veteran of the Civil war, who died late Sunday evening at his home on Baxter street following an illness of several days, were held yesterday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's church, with Rev. P.A. Nolin celebrating a high mass of requiem. There was a large attendance. The ritual of the Roberts post, G.A.R., of this city, of which Mr. Murray was a member, was pronounced at the house Tuesday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock.
The bearers were Martin Shinney, Thomas A. Quigley, Louis Minette, Patrick Copps, Joseph Colty and T.F. McDonald. Burial was in Calvary cemetery and Rev. Fr. Nolin officiated at the committal services. Music was furnished by the regular choir. There were many floral offerings.
