Singer. Born in the Bronx, New York, he was a popular tenor singer known as The Golden Voice of Radio. In the course of his career, he performed with the best bands of the era, toured, recorded and sold thousands of records. Some of his biggest hits include "Are You Lonesome Tonight", "As Time Goes By", "If You Believed In Me", "Lady Divine" and "The Desert Song". In 1931, he became the lead vocalist for NBC Radio and remained on the air until he retired in 1945.
