Civil War Union Army Officer. Served as commander of the 13th New York Light Artillery of the 11th Corps. He was shot through the heart and killed in battle at Marietta, Georgia. He made a name for himself when he fought alongside Dilger's Battery I, 1st Ohio Artillery and Wilkeson's Battery G, 4th US Artillery north of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863. A monument to the unit stands there today as well as a second on on East Cemetery Hill.
