Politician. He was 19th century Japanese chief of the powerful Isezu feudal clan along with being the Imperial Governor of Tsu Domain from 1869 to 1871. He was known for the role he played in the sudden betrayal of the Tokugawa forces at the Battle of Toba–Fushimi during the Boshin War, which was one of the decisive factors that turned the battle in the imperial army's favor. On June 28, 1871, Takayuki officially retired, turning over his offices to his eldest son.
