Irene Hucko Martin, 95, of Syracuse, died Friday, January 7, 2011, at her nephew's home. She was the daughter of Andrew and Eva Sewak Hucko of Syracuse. Mrs. Martin retired from Atlantic Richfield Company, where she worked as a secretary for 16 years. During World War II, she worked in Washington, DC, as a secretary. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and a member of the Apostleship of Prayer. She volunteered many hours in the church rectory and at many church events. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Martin, in 1978 and her brother, Michael "Peanuts" Hucko, in 2003. Survivors: several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 1609 W. Genesee St. The Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m., and the Panakhyda service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, both on Monday.
