Margaret was born February 13, 1918 to the late John and Emma Jackson.
Until her retirement, Margaret was employed as an Administrative Assistant with McCall's Magazine in New York City. In retirement, her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret's strong faith and devotion to God was exemplified through her faithful service as a parishioner at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church and through her unwavering loyalty as a parishioner at St. Ephrem's Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn for over fifty years.
Margaret is survived by three loving sons and their wives: Gerard and his wife Helen Gavin of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Robert and his wife Mary T. Gavin of Stony Point, New York, and William and his wife Marianne Gavin of Thiells, New York. Left to cherish her memory are ten grandchildren: Robert Jr., Barbara (Green), Stephen, Jennifer (Reilly), Stacey, Jonathan, Teresa, William Jr., Emma, and Mary Margaret. She is also survived by ten loving great-granchildren, many devoted nieces and nephews, a caring daughter-in-law, Alice Gavin, and a treasured friend and caregiver, Marie St. Pierre.
Family and friends may offer their condolences to the family on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, GARNERVILLE. Margaret's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on April 26, 2011 in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Haverstraw, New York.
Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Long Island, New York.
