U.S. Congressman. He attended the Miami University, Ohio and was editor and publisher of the Western Telegraph, Hamilton, Ohio (1828-36). He was clerk of the Ohio State House of Representatives in 1829 and a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives in 1830. In 1833, he was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-third and Twenty-fourth Congresses and as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth Congress, serving until 1839. After leaving office, he was clerk of Court of Butler County, Ohio (1842-46) and resumed his former business pursuits. Moving to New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1863 and he was employed in a clerical position until his death.
