Uncle Joe is my great uncle. He was married to Aunt Mary or rather Mom's Aunt Mary. Uncle Joe worked for the railroad. He loved to do the crossword, scramble and other puzzles in the daily newspaper. I remember many days sitting next to Uncle Joe on the couch and trying to solve the puzzles together. He had a gorgeous smile.
Aunt Mary and Uncle Joe had three children: Joe, Sharon and Arlene. They lived on the second floor of 298 Virginia Avenue in Jersey City. The house was owned by his mother-in-law who lived with him until she passed away. On the floor below him lived his wife's brother, Leo Alvarez, and his family. (my grandfather).
