Survivors include her loving husband, David E. "Gene" Shirley of Demopolis; one son, H. Harold Yoder (Colleen) of Homewood; her parents, Thomas E. "Presh" Vaughan and Betty McAlpine Vaughan of Demopolis; one sister, Nonie Wiginton (Max) of Gordo; and two nephews, Clark Wiginton and Tom Wiginton (Amanda).
Pallbearers will be C. J. Davis, Dr. Ted Vaughan, Joe Coats, Mike McAlpine, W. J. "Bo" McAlpine, Robert "Shot" McAlpine, Jeremy Vaughan, and Jimmy Patterson.
Mrs. Shirley was a native and life-long resident of Demopolis. She retired from the Demopolis City Schools after teaching for 20 years, with a total teaching career of over 28 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Demopolis.
