Leoga Alston

Leoga Alston was born on November 7, 1925, to the late McKinley (Mack) and Lottie Mary (Lee) Alston in Attala County, Center, MS. He was the oldest child, and older son of 7 siblings, of which 3 preceded him in death.

At an early age, he united with the New Garden Baptist Church, Kosciusko, MS.

As a young man of 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served his enlisted time Feb 1944 to Jan 1946, and received an Honorable Discharge. As a veteran of World War II Era, his travels on the waters carried him to places he otherwise would not have known, as well as other states, such as Alaska. On returning from the Navy, he (like many) migrated to Milwaukee, WI; and later married Annie G. Winters.

Upon retiring from Falk's Corp., he and his family returned to Mississippi, where he bought a home and a pulpwood truck for the upkeep of his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and even cooking whatever he caught. He played a great part in teaching sons how to survive in a slow economy.

Leoga was well thought of by his nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other family and friends. He bothered no one.

He leaves loving memories in the hearts of two daughters, Patricia and Elaine of Milwaukee, WI; two sons, Oga Lee (Linda) of Kosciusko, MS; and Anthony (Patricia) of Louisville MS; two grandsons, Anthony and Alex, who spent a portion of their lives in the home of Leoga and Annie; siblings, Loree Beamon of Horn Lake, MS; Glennie Kirkland (Joe) of Kosciusko, MS; and Clemmie (Sylvia) of Milwaukee, WI; sisters-in-law, Ruth Alston of Maywood, IL; Dorothy Alston of Milwaukee, WI; and Willie Martin of Kosciusko, MS; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
