Revolutionary War Soldier. Runner (messenger) for George Washington. Enlisted in the Continental Army in Lower Merion Township of Montgomery County, Pennsyvania in August 1776 at the age of seventeen. At Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778. Promoted to sergeant in August, 1780. Civilian profession was a cobbler.
