He died in or near the City of Puebla in Mexico of typhus fever, March 11, 1848. The headstone states that he was buried in Mexico which leaves to question whether or not he is actually buried under the headstone. There is no U.S. Veterans Administration record showing that he is buried in a government cemetery.
