Actress. Hertha Feiler received fame as a 20th century Austrian actress. Debuting in the theater in 1936, she made her first film the next year, and ultimately made more than 30 films through the 1960s. Originally, she had hopes of becoming a pianist but an arm injury halted that goal, thus she turned to acting. During World War II, she continued to perform with special permission from Nazi powers, even though she had a quarter Jewish ancestry. In July of 1939, she became the second wife of the successful actor, comedian, and film producer Heinz Rühmann. The couple had a son, Peter, born in 1942. Living in a country villa with her husband and a host of animals, she was an excellent equestrian and swimmer. She appeared in musicals, comedies, as well as dramatic roles. Although diagnosed with cancer, she and her husband performed in her last movie "The Duck Rings at Half past Seven" in 1968 before she retired. Her grave marker has her buried under her married surname of Rühmann instead of her professional name of "Hertha Feiler." Her husband remarried in 1974 and is buried with his third wife in a different cemetery.
