Among Salkind's films are "Austerlitz" (1960), "The Trial" (1962), "The Three Musketeers" (1974), and "The Four Musketeers" (1975). His biggest hit was "Superman" (1978), which made a star of Christopher Reeve and spawned three sequels. His career ended with "Christopher Columbus: The Discovery" (1992), a critical and commercial flop. Some sources give Salkind's birthdate as 1915. His son, Ilya Salkind (born 1948), is also a producer.
