Bluefield Legend. She is remembered for a lifetime of service to her local community. Raised in Bluefield, she was a 1942 graduate of Beaver High School where she worked as a secretary after graduation. In her youth a member of the Riley Vest Post #9 American Legion Junior Drum and Bugle Corps, she was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Bluefield, served as President of the Baptist Women and was on the Education Committee of the Baptist General Association of Virginia and the Development Committee of the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary of Wake Forest, North Carolina. Long a supporter of Bluefield College, she was named an Honorary Alumna in 1988, received the 1995 Mildred Sullivan Award, and was a Trustee until her death. Mrs. Easley was a 60 year cancer survivor who supported local patient services, was for many years a booster of the athletic programs at Bluefield High School and Bluefield College, and was for a time chairwoman of Mercer County Bible in the Schools.
