Death Claims W.R. Compton

William Riley Compton, 79, 1609 Beech Street SE, died at 8:50 last night at Baugh-Wiley clinic where he had been a patient for two days.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Westside Presbyterian Church, with Rev. W.B. Strong officiating, assisted by Rev. Jimmy Rodgers. Burial will be in the city cemetery, Brown of Decatur directing.

The body will be taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. Morris McCutcheon, at 719 Fourth Avenue SE, Friday afternoon and will remain there until time for services.

Mr. Compton, a member of the Elks Lodge, is survived by:
His wife, Mrs. Norean Compton; three daughters, Mrs. McCuthceon; Mrs. John Sandlin, Decatur; and Mrs. Russell Bennett, Detroit, Mich; a son, Harvey Compton, Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. John Key and Mrs. Etta Davis, both of Birmingham; four half-sisters, Mrs. Ethel Upchurch; Mrs. R.H. Lee; and Mrs. M.M. Cagle, all of Decatur; and Mrs. B.L. Roach, Burnsville, Miss; two brothers, Carl Compton, Decatur and Jim Compton, Birmingham; two half-brothers, Stonewall Compton and Edward Compton, Both of Burnsville, Miss; eight grandchildren; and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Phil Mitchell, Truitt Mitchell, Theo Morris, Roy Street, Clark Rountree and Floyd Free.
