Graveside service for Lucille Compton Sandlin, 88, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Sandlin died Monday, February 3, 1997, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born June 26, 1908, in Decatur. She worked at Cooper Wells Hosiery Mill. Later, she and her husband, John E. Sandlin Sr, owned and operated Sandlin Hardward Store at Second Avenue and Moulton Street. They also were partners in developing Hickory Hills Subdivision, where she lived until moving to Summerford Nursing Home last year. She was the widow of John E. Sandlin Sr. and the mother of the late William H. Johnson.
She is survived by one son, John E. Sandlin Jr; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearer were to be Britt Cauthen, Jay Wilsons, Tommy Compton, Charles David McCulloch, Charles McCulloch and Scott Boyer.
