He was with the United States Employment Service, Dept. of Labor, Washington, June, 1918-March 23, 1919; counsel Board of Contract Adjustment, U S War Dept., 1919-20, since that time special attorney U S Bureau of Internal Revenue, was instrumental in the establishment of Shenandoah National Park, co-author and editor Guide to Paths in the Blue Ridge (1932 and 1934), director Children's Bureau of Pittsburgh and Juvenile Court Association of Allegheny County (on legislation committee), member Legal Aid Association, Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (hereditary compamon and registrar), and Episcopal church.
Harold married June 26, 1919, in Kennett Square, Pa, to Mabel Lydia Stiner (B A Swarthmore 1912), daughter of William Hamilton Stiner. No
children
Ashes interred in Home wood Cemetery, Pittsburgh. Survived by wife and two sisters, Miss May L. Allen and Mrs Edna Allen Rickmers.
