Professional Baseball Player. A utility player and pitcher, she spent three seasons with the Fort Wayne Daisies of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). Raised in Downstate Illinois as part of a noted athletic family, she was signed by the Daisies in 1951 and was to join her sisters Betty and Joanne as part of three playoff teams. Jean's most productive campaign came in 1953 when she went 7-1 on the mound while batting .313. After the league folded in 1954 Jean lived for forty years in Chicago before returning home. She was part of the 1988 mass induction of the AAGPBL and its players into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Jean died of the effects of Alzheimer's Disease; her league's story is told in the 1992 feature "A League of Their Own".
