He was a charter member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a member of Bayou Desiard Country Club and a member of the Old Potluck Hunting Club. He was a member of the Northeast Louisiana Archaeological Society. He developed Idevan Lane Subdivision, 30 years ago, along with Jack Mabray.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. McKenzie, III; his parents, Charles E. and Carrie Perry McKenzie; and three sisters, Eleanor Thompson, Jane Sherrouse and Barbara Venable.
He was survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue Ford McKenzie; three children, Lynn McDonald, Carrie Davidson and husband Dan, and Bernard McKenzie and wife Barbara; and 3 grandchildren.
