Mrs. Venable was a graduate of LSU. She received her Masters Degree from ULM and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She was a school teacher at Start and Rayville Elementary and was the first Food Service Director of the Monroe City Schools. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Bayou Desiard Country Club, and The Junior Study Club. She was a past president of the Monroe Garden Club and the Alter Guild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Hollis Venable, Sr.; her parents, Charles Edgar McKenzie, Sr. and Carrie Perry McKenzie; and one sister, Jane M. Sherrouse.
She was survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Venable Tripi of Collingston; her son, E. Hollis Venable, Jr. and wife Kay of Madison, MS; one sister, Eleanor Thompson; one brother, Charles E. McKenzie, Jr.; 4 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren.
